A Mayfair Christmas – Doing the Bond St Dash

Christmas would not be Christmas in London if one didn’t at least once or twice brace yourself and take the Bond Street Dash.

Bond Street is the epicentre of the mighty forces of consumerism that revolve around the streets and suburbs of london like a hurricane. Many Christmas shoppers never make it beyond Oxford Street or Regent Street to penetrate Mayfair’s flagship shopping destination – but for those who do – what a treat.

Asprey, Bulgari, Burberry, Fenwicks, Chanel, Cartier, Dolce Gabbana, Hermès, Jimmy Choo, Louis Vuitton, Mulberry, Ralph Lauren and Tiffany & Co are a few of the prestigious shops that can be found on this street of streets.

Doing the Bond St Dash requires only that you Dandy or Dandizette up in order to make the most of the experience. You may require a chaperone to ‘steady your ship’ should you be in higher heels. It’s London, it’s Christmas, so the obligatory umbrella is certainly going to be necessary.

Do not linger too long in any specific purveyor of footwear, frocks or jewels – this is the Christmas panic period – you must think fast, act quickly and absolutely no prevarication is allowed. If absolutely forced to you may employ the point and buy tactic (normally I would never endorse any form of pointing but desperate times…).
