Lord Montagu’s refulgence lives on
The loss of Edward Lord Montagu 3rd Baron Montagu of Beaulieu tugs at the threads of the tapestry of England’s Eccentric identity. I didn’t have the privilege if meeting him – unlike my husband & father – but I learned of him through my father’s stories. He who knew him as a young man when he served in Palestine.
My father was a recluse but he had a great fondness & respect for Edward both as a true gentleman & as an eccentric.
The loss loss of Lord Montagu 3rd Baron Montagu of Beaulieu’s refulgence, casts a shadow which we honour sartorially in the wearing of purple teamed with black armbands but honour more notably in giving to the memorial fund which will ultimately be distributed to the charitable trusts he established.
The greatest aim for anyone is to leave the world a better place than you found it & in this Edward, 3rd Baron Montagu of Beaulieu succeeded.
It is through these charitable trusts that Lord Montagu’s refulgence lives on.
